Sönke Kunkel

Kommentar

This course explores the transatlantic histories, experiences, and connections that have shaped North American history up to the mid-19th century. A special focus will be on the histories of slavery and race. Themes we will cover include the Atlantic slave trade, the social, cultural, and political ramifications of slavery, the abolitionist movement, and the long-term legacies of slavery. Please note that this class will be organized around a research-based approach. There will be many readings, but some class sessions will also be devoted to training your history skills and developing research projects that should eventually translate into final papers. While everyone is welcome, you may find the course especially useful if you plan to write a paper. Schließen
