The course aims to introduce students to the variety of Jewish experiences developed in Latin America, taking them as the result of global events and historical processes. We will cover the period that begins with the arrival of Sephardic Jews expelled by the Inquisition since 1492 to the present day, when Latin American Jews have the possibility to migrate to Israel or, having dual nationality, to European countries. Throughout the course we will examine different national cases, of Jewish organizations, their participation in politics, the economy and culture. Students will have the opportunity to explore literature, theater and movies authored by or referred to Latin American Jews. Lastly, we will study anti-Semitic episodes and Latin American Jewish bonds to the state of Israel. --- El objetivo del curso es brindar una introducción a la variedad de experiencias judías desarrolladas en América Latina, comprendiéndolas como el resultado de eventos globales y procesos históricos. Cubriremos el periodo que comienza con la llegada al continente de judíos sefaradíes escapados de la península ibérica por la Inquisición, desde 1492. Llegaremos a analizar los recientes movimientos migratorios de judíos Latinoamericanos hacia Israel y, en el caso de quienes cuentan con doble nacionalidad, hacia países europeos. A lo largo del curso examinaremos diferentes casos nacionales, tipos de organización comunitaria, modos de participación judía en la política, la economía y la cultura. Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de explorar obras literarias, de teatro y cine realizadas por judíos latinoamericanos o referidas a ellos. Por último, estudiaremos episodios antisemitas y los vínculos entre el judaísmo latinoamericano y el Estado de Israel. --- Der Kurs zielt darauf ab, die Studierenden in die Vielfalt der jüdischen Erfahrungen in Lateinamerika einzuführen und sie als Ergebnis globaler Ereignisse und historischer Prozesse zu betrachten. Wir werden den Zeitraum von der Ankunft der sephardischen Juden, die seit 1492 von der Inquisition vertrieben wurden, bis zur Gegenwart abdecken, in der lateinamerikanische Juden die Möglichkeit haben, nach Israel oder - mit doppelter Staatsbürgerschaft - in europäische Länder zu migrieren. Im Laufe des Kurses werden wir verschiedene nationale Fälle, jüdische Organisationen, ihre Beteiligung an Politik, Wirtschaft und Kultur untersuchen. Die Studierenden werden die Möglichkeit haben, sich mit Literatur, Theater und Filmen zu beschäftigen, die von lateinamerikanischen Juden verfasst wurden oder sich auf sie beziehen. Schließlich werden wir uns mit antisemitischen Episoden und den Beziehungen der lateinamerikanischen Juden zum Staat Israel beschäftigen. Schließen
